Bohemian Gentian and LIFE CORCONTICA

Detailed demographic data in the Giant Mountains has been collected for 21 years and represents a relatively unique population demographics record. This dates are well-suited to, for example, a potential population-genetic study likely to serve as an extremely powerful decision-making tool an additional management strategy.
 

The current condition of occurrence in the Krkonoše Mountains
On the only existing locality in Horní Albeřice there is a small, blooming population, which does not read more than fifty flowering individuals in the last eight years (2005-2013).
It has not been recorded in locality Černý Důl in last ten years.
 

LIFE Corcontica Objective:
Monitoring of populations, which should follow the selected management in each year, for the duration of the project. A management plan and conservation measures will be developed, which will be linked to the long-term care of gentian localities. The response plan respects the species rescue program. 
The intervention plan is being prepared for the period 2013-2017.

Basic management of Horní Albeřice: The type of farming, set by the KRNAP administration in previous years, continues on the locality. It is a combination of mowing, dragging and raking in the time. Early summer care (in May) includes cutting and digging biomass (first photo).

Autumn care (November) includes mowing, digging biomass, verticizing in strips, and creating gaps - places without vegetation (second photo).

Basic management of the Černý Důl: It is a stony edge of the quarry with a naturally sparse herbaceous floor and violently expanding trees. Locality does not need to be regularly mowed, however, it is advisable to annually disturb the soil cover by raking and sculpting tree raids.

On the monitored area, similar care is taking place like in the Albeřice locality, here autumn photo with the creation of gaps.

Remediation management of the Černý Důl: One-time cutting and cutting of the site. It was necessary to carve out all the raid of trees, dig out accumulated old age and disrupt the surface on about 25% of the locality (raking and dragging).
